Horizon Eye Care Announced as New Tenant for Waverly Development
Vision-care leader to move Arboretum office to new Waverly building in Fall 2016
Charlotte, N.C., March 15, 2016 – Charlotte-based commercial developers Crosland Southeast and Childress Klein announced that Horizon Eye Care will be joining its diverse array of tenants at the 90-acre Waverly development near the intersection of Providence Road and Providence Country Club Drive in South Charlotte. The location will encompass 8,300 square feet of the second 22,000 square foot medical office building at Waverly.
“With the opening of Novant Health last year, Waverly now provides unsurpassed healthcare services for South Charlotte residents,” said Paul DeVine, office partner at Childress Klein. “We are delighted by the fact that the demand for medical office space is so great that we had to begin construction on a new building ahead of schedule to add a top-tier vision-care provider like Horizon Eye Care to Waverly’s list of health- and wellness-oriented tenants.”
The new state-of the-art building will be located next to Novant Waverly’s urgent care and family healthcare practices, adding the convenience of proximity to patients’ medical care routines. Construction began in February.
“In our continued effort to better serve the needs of our expanding patient base, we’re excited to announce the future opening of our Waverly office,” says Kathy Murray, Horizon Eye Care’s chief operating officer. “Our current Arboretum office will close and we will relocate our patient services to our new Waverly location.”

“This will be a full-service, multi-specialty site that eventually will have seven doctors,” Murray says. The current Arboretum practitioners – including optometrists Dr. Kala Brewer, Dr. Marc James and Dr. Paul Marvin and ophthalmologist Dr. Judy Hustead – will relocate to the Waverly office and be joined by the pediatric services of Dr. Stephen Daugherty and retina services of Dr. Miriam Ridley.
The new Waverly site at 11835 Southmore Dr., Charlotte, NC, 28277 will offer convenient hours, and a full-service optical and contact lens department with offices that are easily accessible with first-floor locations.

Horizon Eye Care joins more than 25 other retail shops and restaurants that have signed, including a 40,000-square-foot Whole Foods, Waverly’s retail anchor, and 22,000-square-foot medical office anchor Novant Health, which opened in November, offering an urgent care and family healthcare, including pediatrics, physical therapy and other services.
